Back to Business
Happy Wednesday everyone!
So I can finally breathe again thanks to allergy medicine and every nasal spray cvs had to offer me, and today I got to explore Marketplace and add businesses to the new online store which will be offered soon to the public! Make sure you check it out, all of the listings are 30% off!
Next week I start my filming for the videos on each town, and I am QUITE nervous! Hopefully, I can maneuver the camera with a steady hand.
Lights,Camera,Action! I guess? When in Meriden..
here’s to cameras and editing,
And now, we wait..
Today I finally finished my outline of the towns for the highlight videos. I started to make a rough draft of the pictorial narratives and have been busy all day!
A lot of googling, typing and timing myself reading things today.. sorry I couldn’t be more exciting and have something funny to write about.. strictly work today!
I haven’t even tweeted today.. WHO AM I?!
Since I have been such a busy bee, now is the hardest part.. WAITING. Editors will be responding to me shortly with their inputs so I can get the ball rolling on this project!
And then I get trusted with a camera, oh boy
The Fab Five
I know this title is deceiving, no.. I’m not talking about the 5 freshman from Michigan who shocked the world.. although, it was an absolutely amazing documentary on ESPN.
I’m talking about the 5 surounding towns in the Weeklys! Berlin, Durham/Middlefield, North Haven, Southington, and Plainville.
My newest project is to create videos for their websites to give a brief overview of each town. Nothing too fancy, just a little welcome so people can get a better understanding of the area, and people who live there can see the beautiful attractions their hometown has to offer.
Today started my project with some research on each coordinating town, mainly because I am not a Connecticut Guru. Once my research is completed. I will begin my first solo filming/editing project to wrap up this internship. YIKES! let’s hope I can do this without messing up!!
I will keep you all updated on my work.
Are you there Tumblr, it’s me,Alanna
My blog posts have been SERIOUSLY failing lately so let me give you a quick run down of what I have been up to:
HOLY PIZZA. I went as the Deal of the Day Ambassador to help get more people signed up for the program.. and eat my weight in pizza. A ton of surrounding pizza places competed for the town’s favorite pizza place
Then I got to do my new favorite thing.. CODING!
Basically, all i do is sit at a computer all day going through internet codes and changing them so that new content can be put on the website and updating old codes to keep the record journal website running smoothly.
Alex does this all the time, WAY more in depth than I did. If I got any more into coding, my eyes would have fell out. skimming the surface was perfect for me. Just enough to keep me busy and feel nice and tech savvy for the day.
Just keep Pinning..
Today was full of breaking news, googling and my ultimate favorite.. PINTEREST!
I am proud to say you can now follow not only me but Record-Journal on Pinterest :)
Record-Journal’s pinterest is MUCH different than my personal account, but I will say, once I figured out what was news worthy and a bunch of articles about the Chardon High School shooting, the rest was cake.
Make sure to check out the site and Record-Journal on Twitter for updates about the shooting, news around Connecticut, and everything else!
Okay so today has been VERY busy, no complaints here! I started helping Stephanie with Editorials and even learned where the scanners were (the lady didn’t let me use it, but hey.. I know where it is now).
After a bunch of little tasks for Stephanie I got to do my favorite thing for a major of the day..TWEET!
Anyone that knows me knows I LOVE Twitter.. and Pinterest, which is ironically what the DFM chat was about today! Best day ever? I think so.
After learning about media and news on these websites, I did a couple tasks for Caroline and now I am headed to enjoy National Margarita Day!
Cheers to the weekend,
So today I was Farrah’s personal intern helping her with storyboarding for the Deal of the Day videos and Following Farrah segments on the Record-Journal homepage!
We did voiceovers and discussed what types of screens and shots we want to include in the business and customer promotional videos. I also got to debut my voice for the videos! This took a good portion of the day, and then we began transcribing interviews.
Besides that, pretty slow day at Record-Journal, easing me into the workweek.
Over and out,
Case of the Mondays
Ok, so I finally found a computer that will let me make my posts pretty!
So today I met with Alex, Farrah, Chris, and Mark to brainstorm Deal of the Day ideas for videos and upcoming ideas for the program. We have so many great ideas coming for the program and I can’t wait for everyone to see them!
I also got to observe Farrah today while she edited for her section on the website, Following Farrah.
I also might have found someone who loves candy more than my best friend..Farrah
But on a more scholarly note: I edited another video today!! And for having a case of the Mondays, and being very new to the whole video production process.. it’s pretty boss. Check it out here!
Besides that.. and almost running out of gas this morning on the Mass Pike,my day has been pretty low key.
Make sure to lookout for my post about storyboarding on Wednesday!
Let the work week begin,
Tech savvy intern..NOT
Technical difficulties are cramping my style currently and not allowing me to post at my full potential (I’m not a text only kinda girl). Be on the lookout for a post about my day later!
Extreme Couponing: Record-Journal style
So I briefly discussed my project being to improve an already stellar product: the Deal of the Day. In order to make suggestions, I have to know about it. I am all about a good deal and websites that help me save my money while still impulse shop.
what?.. girl likes to shop!
Luckily they put the right girl on this mission! I looked into Groupon and Living Socials business plans and what makes them tick. The information I found was pretty interesting, ranging from horror stories, success stories, and comments from subscribers. With this economy, everyone is trying to save money. Some more than others.. with these deal websites and Extreme Couponing and everything else, this business trend is a going to be HUGE for 2012 (well, according to money professionals and articles I read today)
So a lot of research went into couponing today. If Kourtney Kardashian can look into couponing.. so can I right?
Even the Kardashians love a bargain. Little Mason is going to have juice until he goes away to College if she keeps this up!
Whether you are a Coupon Queen or a struggling Shopaholic College Student, Deal of the Days are playing a huge part in our lives. This program will hopefully be transferring over to Facebook and Twitter in the near future.
Til next week,
